    Moving to Digital Course

I am running a 1-day course at the Publishing Training Centre, London in February 2010, and again in June. It is called "Moving to Digital" and is for people who already have one or more years' experience in managing print publishing and are now undertaking digital publishing projects.

Publishers with experience in print publishing who are now moving to a digital environment can find the transition challenging. Current knowledge and experience needs to be adapted to a whole new format and it is easy to either over- or underestimate the adaptability of one’s current skill-set.

For course details and inquiries please see the Publishing Training Centre site

A custom search for project managers and usability types

I have been experimenting with Google Custom search. My new favourite sites search page
does a Google search just of certain sites I often refer to - give it a try!

    Experimenting with AdSense

As you can probably see, I've added a skyscraper of AdSense ads to the design - more to learn  about AdSense than in the hope of generating a pile of revenue. But my hope is that it ads (if you forgive the pun) to the usefulness of the blog, or at least does not degrade it. Perhaps you'll see some interesting products and services...

    excuses, excuses

Why no blog entries in January? Been working, man.

But it is a bit suspicious that I found time to contribute to the Oxford Oxfam Group blog. I promised I'd write for it in return for not helping to run it technically.

    Knol article on project scheduling

I have published an article on "How to schedule a project" It is intended for people with little or no project management experience, though it does draw on PRINCE2 methodology. It also includes some comments on the various kinds of software (and non-software) available for recording and displaying a schedule. Comments and ratings would, of course, be very welcome!

    Knol articles

Has anyone else noticed that some of my blog postings are becoming a bit too like articles? Thought so. So I'm going to experiment with writing the occasional article for Knol, leaving this blog free for shorter, bloggier stuff.

My first knol article is how to do requirements analysis

    I'm Back

Sorry to have been quiet for a while - I got very busy moving house and the blog had to take a back seat for a while.

    The references list

I should perhaps make something clear about the reference list that appears on the sidebar. I plan only to add references to this once I've written something about them.: this means that (at least for a while) there will be lots of good stuff that is not on the list.

If you are looking for a long list of usability resources, you might want to try the lists kept by the Usability Professionals Association, or  the one attached to Paul Sherman's usability blog .
